RoomforMilk is a Slashdot news aggregator that uses Treemaps as a primary means of navigation through the site. Treemaps were invented by Professor Ben Scheiderman of the University of Maryland. This site was created by Geoff Gaudreault, interactive designer.

The treemaps on this site contain topics for stories. Topics are automatically generated by filtering a news feed and tagging it with terms from the text.

The size of each box on the treemap represents the number of stories in each topic during the current period. Navigating back through the archive will display the treemap for the past time period. By navigating back in the archive, you can see the treemap evolve over time.

The color saturation in the boxes represent how fresh the topic is during the current period. Green boxes are regular tags, and orange boxes are proper names.
